Arrival Day
Participants arrive at Echo mid-afternoon, are greeted by their CIT Directors, and meet their co-staff for the session. When the Camp Director reads off the cabin lists for all campers, the CITs are introduced to the campers as one of their counselors. CITs complete the rotating schedule with their cabin and eat dinner with their cabin. They spend time as a group with the CIT Directors. During this time, the group will get to know one another through games and initiatives, discuss the resposibilities of being a CIT, and debrief their first day of cabin experience. After the group meeting, CITs return to their cabin group for the opening campfire and to retire for the evening.

CIT Schedule
CITs serve as a third counselor in a camper cabin and follow the Pathfinder and Main Camp Daily Schedule. Although the majority of their day is spent with their cabin, they also have time to meet as a group. During second and third Camptivity, the CITs meet with the CIT Directors to discuss their development as a counselor and learn facilitation techniques on our team elements course. After Taps Talk, CITs join together again for a fireside chat in Staff Village or snacks in the dining hall.

CITs go on a supervised "night off" for one evening in the session. Typically, they will go into town for a wonderful dinner and then see a movie or have dessert by the lake. The cost of the group night is evenly divided up among CITs and deducted from each CIT's trading post account.

Departure Day
On the morning of departure, CITs attend a regular breakfast with their cabins. They spend the remainder of the morning packing their belongings and collecting lost and found items within the cabin. At 10:30 camp time, participants load the busses, which depart for the McGaw YMCA in Evanston promptly at 11:00 camp time (10:00 in Chicago). Each CIT is provided with a sack lunch for the bus ride home. Bus progress towards Evanston is posted on the internet. Please follow the bus updates link on our home page.
