Main Camp
Caring ... Honesty ... Respect ... Responsibility
 |
Fun, friendship, and character development, guided by positive role models, in a safe outdoor environment.
"My son had a wonderful time, and learned a great deal about the importance to contributing to a group,
consistently and dependably, so that all the work (and fun!) gets done."
|
Main Camp offers middle-school-age boys and girls the opportunity to grow both as individuals and as members of their peer group.
Cabin groups live, work, and play together, enjoying activities as a group while learning to respect each other's differences.
Each camper also embarks on an individual journey in three camptivity classes that change each week and two hours of free choice activities daily.
From morning "reflections" to bedtime "taps talks" campers grow in spirit, mind, and body, learning YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in a supportive setting.
Evening activities bring all cabin groups together to enjoy campfires and large-group games.
Two-week sessions include all-camp team activities mid-session that stress participation and cooperation over winning.
Ranchers Option for entering 6th through 8th Graders, Sessions 2-5
Main Campers entering 6th through 8th grade with at least three years of horseback riding lessons at Camp Echo (or the
equivalent) may choose to be Ranchers, joining a small group of other campers who also have a passion for horseback riding.
While other campers participants complete Camptivity rotations, this special group receives specialized riding instruction from a highly trained Ranch Camp Instructor!
Change for 2012 Ranchers will enjoy Ranch Camp for one week of camptivities and participate in other Main Camp camptivities for the other week. Refer to
our FAQs for more information.
