Camp Echo is located on Ryerson Long Lake in Fremont Michigan
on 492 acres of land adjacent to the Manistee National Forest.

The map on the left shows the location of Fremont relative to other major cities in Michigan.
Fremont is about 45 miles (an hour's drive) northwest of Grand Rapids.

Camper cabins and aquatic program areas are located on the perimeter of the peninsula jutting into the lake.

From the Chicago area:
Take the Skyway to the Indiana Toll Road (I-90).
(From Evanston, take Lake Shore Drive to Stony Island ... avoid the Dan Ryan construction!)
Head east on the Indiana Toll Road for about 20 miles and take the Detroit/Lake Station Exit #21 onto I-94 east.
Proceed east on I-94 through the rest of Indiana, past Exit #40 and into Michigan, where the exit numbers will start over.
Continue on I-94 another 30 miles to Benton Harbor/St. Joseph.
(Exits #28 and #29 are good halfway-point stops for food and gas.)
After Benton Harbor/St Joseph, take Exit #34 and get on 196/31 north.
Go north on 196, past South Haven, towards Holland.
Just before Holland, take Exit #44 onto US 31 north.
Continue on US 31 -- don't get on Business 31 -- and go north through Holland, Grand Haven, and Muskegon.
A few miles past Muskegon, at the top of a long hill, exit from US 31 onto M-120 East.
Drive approximately 20 miles on M-120 through the towns of Twin Lake and Holton.
M-120 curves to the left at the junction of Maple Island Road.
Proceed 2.9 miles, through Brunswick, to a blinker light at the junction of M-82.
You will see a Wesco station and an ice-cream stand on the right. Turn right on M-82.
Continue east on M-82 through the town of Fremont.
M-82 becomes Main Street Fremont.
Watch your speed through town -- 25 mph.
At the blinker light where M-82 turns to the right, don't turn right -- continue straight on Main Street which becomes 48th Street.
Go 3.3 miles to Baldwin Avenue (there's a large sign on the left side of road for "The Shack Resort" just before the intersection) and turn left on Baldwin.
Proceed on Baldwin for 2 miles (around two "S" curves, then to the top of the second hill).
Look for a big red barn on the left side; slow down immediately and look for 32nd Street on the right.
Turn right on 32nd Street.
Go 1.75 miles on 32nd Street and curve right to Triangle Trail on the right.
The Camp Echo sign is low to the ground.
Sing the "Camp Echo Song" as you pass under the gate at the top of the first hill.
Proceed slowly down the camp road, 15 mph please.
From Grand Rapids or points south or east of Grand Rapids in Michigan:
The goal is to take M-37, known as Alpine Avenue, north out of Grand Rapids.
Driving west on I-96 from points east of Grand Rapids, Alpine/M-37 north is an exit to the right off I-96.
However, if you are coming north on US 131 through Grand Rapids, and you exit east on I-96, get in the left lane immediately --
Alpine/M-37 is an exit to the left off I-96, and you'll need to turn right at the top of the hill.
Take Alpine north 16 miles past Sparta, Kent City, and Cassnovia.
At the blinker light right after Cassnovia, turn right to stay on M-37.
Continue through Bailey and Grant to Newaygo.
At the first light in Newaygo, M-37 north joins with M-82 west.
Go straight -- don't turn.
Proceed on M-37/M-82 through town and down a long hill into the old part of Newaygo.
Watch your speed at this point -- 25 mph.
Turn left at the light to stay on M-37/M-82, and head over the bridge.
At the light at the end of the bridge, M-82 heads west to Fremont -- don't turn.
Continue straight on M-37 up a long hill.
From that light at the end of the bridge, go exactly 4 miles north to 40th Street.
You will see the North Star Diner and a Motel across the way.
Turn left and go west on 40th Street.
Proceed 2.1 miles west on 40th Street.
When it begins a long curve to the left, jog/exit to the right and go north on Gordon.
Gordon dead-ends in exactly 1 mile at 32nd Street.
Turn left on 32nd Street.
Go 0.75 miles on 32nd Street and curve left to Triangle Trail on the left.
As you turn left onto Triangle Trail you will see the Camp Echo sign on the left, low to the ground.
Sing the "Camp Echo Song" as you pass under the gate at the top of the first hill.
Proceed slowly down the camp road, 15 mph please.
From Traverse City or other points north or northeast of Grand Rapids:
Make your way to US 131 and head south towards Grand Rapids.
Take Exit #118 near Howard City, and proceed west on M-82.
Take M-82 west 17 miles to Newaygo.
At the traffic light in Newaygo, turn right to stay on M-82 west, which joins with M-37 north through Newaygo.
Proceed on M-37/M-82 through town and down a long hill into the old part of Newaygo.
Watch your speed at this point -- 25 mph.
Turn left at the light to stay on M-37/M-82, and head over the bridge.
At the light at the end of the bridge, M-82 heads west to Fremont -- don't turn.
Continue straight on M-37 up a long hill.
From that light at the end of the bridge, go exactly 4 miles north to 40th Street.
You will see the North Star Diner and a Motel across the way.
Turn left and go west on 40th Street.
Proceed 2.1 miles west on 40th Street.
