Layover
Caring ... Honesty ... Respect ... Responsibility

Layover Overview
Many campers choose to go to camp for two sessions (four weeks). Although they are allowed take the bus to Evanston and then the bus back to camp 48 hours later, campers also can choose to stay at camp over the break. Layover is a wonderful way for campers to relax in-between busy sessions at camp. A smaller group of campers is able to take advantage of their favorite camp activity areas, go on a day trip to Michigan's Adventure, and have their laundry done. All activities and the day trip are supervised by our highly trained staff members who campers have bonded with throughout the session.

After the busses depart on the closing day of the session, layover campers have lunch and enjoy a "Super Fun Swim" period. During "Super Fun Swim" campers can choose (based on their swim classification) to water ski, tube, sail, swim, or relax on the beach. After a delicious dinner, campers movie night complete with snacks and refreshments.

Campers get to sleep later than usual and then feast on a special brunch. The layover group departs for Michigan's Adventure, which is about 45 minutes away. Michigan's Adventure is Michigan's largest amusement and water park with over 60 rides and attractions. For more information on the many attractions at Michigan's Adventure, click here. Upon arrival, staff members make buddy groups and establish a meeting spot, then everyone is free to enjoy the many rides and waterslides the park offers. Group meeting times are spaced throughout the day. During these times, campers check in with with staff members and everyone has a snack. A Camp Echo staff member is always at the group's meeting spot to keep track of belongings and to be available for any camper questions or needs. At the end of the afternoon, the group boards the bus and returns to Fremont for dinner at Pizza Hut. After dinner, the group enjoys more movies in the Social Lodge and has a good night's rest before the start of the new session.
