Caring ... Honesty ... Respect ... Responsibility
 |
Learn the basics of paddling, backpacking, and wilderness living at Camp Echo,
then practice your skills in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula.
"The trailblazers trip was everything we hoped for - our daughter absolutely loved it.
She was particularly complimentary about her counselors.
She not only learned leadership skills, but is acquiring the confidence that is an integral part of true leadership."

Girls Trailblazers Description
|
For twenty years, Trailblazers has provided an opportunity for older middle school girls to develop as individuals among a strong group of peers.
Trailblazers learn the basics of paddling, backpacking, and wilderness living at Camp Echo while gaining skills in teamwork,
trust, and communication on our team elements course.
The group then journeys to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to spend three days canoeing under a canopy of trees on the Big Two Hearted River,
and three days hiking the North Country Trail where wildflowers, fresh air, clean water, and starry nights abound.
Between paddling and hiking, participants enjoy a layover day along the shores of Lake Superior - relaxing, fishing, swimming, and cooking delicious meals.
Trailblazers return to Echo forever changed by their experience, and spend their final day celebrating their accomplishments.
Level 1 trips are hiking, canoeing, and biking trips for beginners.
Learn introductory wilderness skills involving stove use, map and compass, cooking, camping, fire safety, leave no trace concepts, and personal hygiene.
Age-appropriate initiatives and participation on Echo's team elements course build group cohesiveness.
