Camptivities
Caring ... Honesty ... Respect ... Responsibility

Camptivity Choices
During the morning, campers particpate in three Camptivities of their choice. Camptivities are fun and engaging instructional activities that are designed to both educate and excite campers. We offer a variety of camptivities that will appeal to campers with a diverse set of interests.

Our regular offerings of Camptivities include:

  • Archery
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Biking
  • Canoeing
  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Fishing
  • Kayaking
  • Music
  • Nature
  • Photography
  • Sailing
  • Sports
  • Water Skiing
During the second week of two-week sessions, we also offer advanced Camptivities and "special" Camptivities. Advanced Camptivities are offered to campers who would like to further their skills in a Camptivity that they participated in the first week. Typically, campers can choose to do advanced classes archery, arts & crafts, canoeing, or sailing. "Special" Camptivities vary from session to session and are based on the unique talents of staff members.

Here are some examples of "special" Camptivities that have been offered in recent years:

  • Chess
  • Juggling
  • Knitting
  • Lacrosse
  • Snorkeling
  • Speed Stacks
  • Tae Kwon Do
  • Yoga
Camptivity Assignments
Campers receive an orientation to all available Camptivities on the opening day of their session. After the orientation, Counselors assist each camper in the selection process. Each camper lists eight Camptivity choices in order of preference. Campers are assigned to three classes each week based on their list of preferences. (For the two-week sessions, campers make a new list of choices for the second week.) We make every attempt to give campers their first choice, then second choice, and so on down. Campers who do not get their first choice for the first week are noted and, if their first choice is the same for the second week, they are given priority for that choice.

Pathfinders and Main Campers who are classified as red, white or blue circle are assigned to swim lessons for one of their three Camptivity classes each week. They have the opportunity to re-take the swim evaluation during swim lessons, and are assigned a new Camptivity if they receive a blue classification. (Voyagers and Explorers have the option to take swim lessons if they would like to advance to a new swim level but are not required to do so.) Campers who are pre-registered for horseback riding lessons are assigned to horseback Camptivity for one of the two weeks in the session.

Due to the popularity of some Camptivities and the fact that space is limited, we can't guarantee that every camper will get their first choice. We encourage campers to participate in their favorite activities during the choice periods before and after dinner each day.
